Central African Republic
Central African Republic president-elect Faustin Touadera, said he will transform the country by creating jobs for the unemployed youth.
He thanked his supporters for the votes and urged the whole population regardless of religious or political affiliations to work together in a bid to rebuild the country.
“We will transform the country to offer employment opportunities to young people, creating enough wealth to be equally distributed in the whole country. Together, we will maintain gender equality. We will encourage young people to be active in the public sector. We will build peace in our country,” Touadera said.
The former mathematics professor won 62.71 percent of the votes beating his competitor Anicet-Georges Dologuele who polled 37.29.
He was the last prime minister of former president Francois Bozize who was ousted from power in 2013.
The ex-president was overthrown by Seleka rebel forces sparking a series of revenge attacks.
Touadera has a hard task ahead of him to rebuild a country riven with sectarian violence in decades.
